June Prayers 2007

Welcome to June - and a new idea.
Each month we'll post a new start-point - maybe even with a God-thought or two to prompt our prayers.

To add your prayer(s) or requests, click to "Leave a Comment" then type away. St Peter's people will read your requests and pray for you.

Please note this is a public site so:
- Don't post something that you don't want in the public domain (eg "please pray for my friend's operation" rather than "please pray for John Harvey's haemeroids" - he might not want the world to know the details!)
- Encourage people you know to use it so we can pray for them
- I do hold editorial rights - so will remove or edit stuff that looks inappropriate (or even just mis-spult if I spot it)

Please pray for our youthworker-in-waiting, Matt and his wife Kirsty. Please pray for Kirsty as she looks for work, and pray for them both as they look for a home in Yateley. Pray for us as a church as we prepare to welcome them to live and work amongst us in September.

Please pray for the process of finding a curate to join us in July 2008. The process has begun, in drawing up a profile of our church and parish to invite candidates to consider Yateley as a place of learning and ministry. Pray for wisdom in finding the person of God's choosing.

My brother is in Intensive Care at Royal Berks, following a series of internal investigations and operations. He's very much on the mend now, but it looks like a long haul back to full health.

Please pray for Mark following his surgery.
Pray for a clarity in the results of today's scan (Wednesday), for ongoing improvement in strength and for a speedy transfer later in the week to a regular ward.

Thank God for the staff and their helpfulness and support. Thank God too that Mark's children (and wife) have not been too distressed in visiting him.

Please pray on two counts for Mark today (Friday). His scan results sound like they are not so good - Mark had to go back for more surgery, and it sounds drastic. He has also "turned grey" (mum's words) - and appears to have contracted pneumonia (or a chest infection), for which he is now being treated with antibiotics.
Please
- Pray for Mark as he recovers from yet another round of surgery.
- Give thanks that today he's coming round and looking better (and with better medical signs of recovery
- Pray for the medical staff to be able to completely irradicate the problem and not need to go back for more surgery.
- Give thanks for the medical staff in ICU - really helpful, particularly his primary care nurse.
- Pray Mark's wife, Lucy, and their children as they cope with visiting, and the practical arrangements of life whilst Mark is away from them.
- Give thanks for the people of their church who are rallying around to help the family and visit Mark.
Please particularly pray that we can all see the love of God and the glory of Jesus, even through the darkest valley.

Paul, our prayers are very much with your brother, Mark, Lucy,and the rest of the family. We pray for healing and that Mark and Lucy may feel surrounded by God's love and peace at this difficult time.
We pray also for you and your wider family that you may all know that you are surrounded by God's love.

Paul, it's hard being on the outside looking in at someone you love hurting or struggling. Of course we know God's holding you and Mark, and it helps to know others are standing beside you, hand in the small of your back whilst you wait and hope and pray for Mark's recovery. We're here.

I visited Mark last night. He was in much less pain, and coming round from yet another dose of anaesthetic, but still suffering from the side effects of the anaesthetic and morphine.
Still slightly confused and disorientated but was gaining in coherence and engery during the visit. His chest infection appears to have improved significantly.
Mark asks us to pray for his colleagues and boss (Alison I think) at work.
Thank God for ongoing improvement - particularly the complication of the chest infection.
Continue to pray for Lucy and the children, and thank God for the people - neighbours, family and church friends who are rallying around to help out and pray.
Tomorrow (Sunday) is Timothy's birthday party (delayed from when Mark first went into hospital). Pray for Lucy (and helpers) holding together a pile of energetic children!

Mark had another operation on Monday - this time to close up the incision. This means the surgeons are confident that there's no more cutting up to do.
Mark was just on his way back from theatre as I phoned last night - groggy but showing good signs.

Please pray for Mark's strength to build - his breathing is still weak (apart from anything else, poor guy is worn out!).
Please pray that the surgeons have truly got to the root of Mark's internal yuk
Thank God for the continuing care and attention of the nursing staff and specialists.
Thank God for those who are helping Lucy at home and helping with the children.

Curious twist to last update. Surgeons didn't stitch Mark up on Monday, but (kind of?) closed the incision with (sic) a skin-like dressing. As family, we're a bit confused as to whether this is the end of the deal, or whether the surgeons are still hedging their bets. Mark has a tube in his throat to keep his lungs clear so is frustrated that he can't talk (and he does like to talk, tee hee).
Please pray:
- for clarity for the surgeons.
- for healing of Mark's chest infection and for improved strength to his breathing.

- for the many people supporting Mark and his family in prayer and practical action.

i ask for prayers for kevin, pattricia, their relationship, for ian, sylvia, mary, freddy, shane, a soulmate, love, joy, peace, a home, life, light, all our prayers, petitions, intentions, to be heard and answered today, for help for my health, for healing of all kevins addictions, friends who encourage him to drink, take him awaay on drink binging weekends, for failing hope of ever being married to kevin, and living in his lovely, quiet peaceful home, my life needs god, we need god, help us god, heal, inspire, enlighten us, guide and be with us in thoughts words, deeds actions, help me get a job soon, and money
